Clustering Overview

How Clustering Works

The Clustering wizard can be used to group data items into several clusters and display those clusters graphically (for example, in a scatter chart).

  • You can design your own custom clustering models using the Advanced Clustering wizard. You can create as many clustering models as you like.
  •  When you run the query for a clustering model, the clustering tool creates for each individual cluster both a custom set and a corresponding customer member. These pairs can be used to display data in a chart (for example, in a scatter chart).
    • Custom Set - contains the items included in the cluster (as calculated by the R Engine).
    • Custom Member - contains the aggregation of the custom set.
